Active Reading in English 110

Coming into English 110 I had some experience annotating while reading an assigned work. Last year, freshman year, I was required to fully understand a wide variety of dense scientific and literary works. Even with the experience I had taking notes on these works, English 110 taught me new and improved annotation techniques and has really helped me understand how to take more in depth notes. The active reading I have done on the introduction in the textbook, the excerpt from Gilbert, and the article from Brooks has allowed me to begin the process of honing and refining my annotation techniques. I have semi-developed a color coded system which I put into effect on the Gilbert reading which was influenced by the half page code sheet that was given to us in class. I hope to vastly improve my amount of notes in the margin and ask more questions to understand the texts on a deeper level. These improvements are just the beginning to advancing my annotations for this and all my future classes.

I like how you included a photo of your book to show the audience how your note-taking skills have improved since you started the class. This helped me to visualize some of the new techniques you were talking about.

I really like your banner and tagline, it has a nice natural theme to it!
