In my personal experience, technology has positively affected various relationships in my life. It has allowed me to stay in contact with my friends and family from back home. My girl friend and mother are two of the best support structures in my life and without technology and the ability to keep in contact with them college would be a much tougher time for me. I personally believe that technology has allowed me and my girlfriend to stay together despite being more than a hundred miles part. The feeling of waking up to a good morning text from my girlfriend or and update on my dog from my mom back home starts my day off right and allows me to push through the hard times. Technology has only improved the supportive capabilities of the relationships I have established from back home and has made the transition to college much easier. My freshman year would have been much more stressful and difficult if I could not be in contact with the people I love from back home.

Technology has even played a role in starting my relationship with my girlfriend. Even when I was living back at home we lived half an hour part from each other. The commute was lengthy and expensive so it limited the amount of physical time we could spend together. Through our phones we were able to grow deeper connected and eventually start dating and keep this deep connection even though we are hundreds of miles apart.
